At
Prosper Family Dentistry, it is our goal to make sure each
patient feels at ease in our office. We offer a variety of
comforts while you are in the dental chair to make sure you
feel relaxed during your appointment. Also, everyday we follow
certain office protocols to make sure that you health is protected.
Chair-side Comforts
DVDs
and CD Entertainment
During your visit you have the option of selecting a DVD
or CD to enjoy. Wireless headphones are provided. You may
select a DVD or CD from our collection or you can bring
one of your own.
Blankets and Hand-Warmers
We are pleased to offer a cozy blanket and warm, lavender
hand-warmers to wear during your visit in order to make
you feel more relaxed.
Sedation
If
you have some anxiety about your dental visit, we can offer
one of two types of sedation. Please discuss you anxiety with
Dr. Sentlingar and she can help you decide which type of sedation
is right for you.
Nitrous Oxide/Laughing Gas
Nitrous oxide helps you relax during you visit and has no
lasting side effects following your appointment.
Oral Sedation
For those patients who have a greater level of anxiety,
oral sedation may be the best choice. After discussing your
medical history and anxiety level with Dr. Sentlingar, she
may prescribe a sedative medication which is taken in her
office 1 hour prior to your scheduled appointment. You must
have a driver if this type of sedation is used. Oral sedation
allows most patients to doze off during their appointment.
If this type of sedation is used, Dr. Sentlingar and her
assistant will monitor your blood pressure, breathing and
responsiveness during the entire appointment.
Infection
Control
To
protect both you and our staff from possible hazards, our
practice uses “universal precautions.” This means
we follow the current recommendations of the American Dental
Association (ADA), the Centers for Disease Control (CDC),
and the Occupational Safety Hazard Administration (OSHA) for
sterilization and safety. We are committed to following specific,
methodical steps to ensure your peace of mind and complete
safety at all times. Our Sterilization Center provides a streamlined
system to allow for proper cleaning and sterilization of all
equipment. It also prevents cross-over of contaminated and
sterile instruments. In addition, our practice also uses an
isolated water bottle system in each treatment area to ensure
fresh and clean water each day. Our office uses a state-of-the-art
Sterilox generator to keep the water lines free of bacteria
and hazardous material. For more information on the Sterilox
generator please go to www.ultradent.com.
