Kenneth Bui

Kenneth is our lone ranger, the only man among 12 women in the Prosper Family Dentistry team!  He joined us in July 2012, completely undaunted by all the estrogen in this office because he was raised with five sisters.

Kenneth was born and raised in Biloxi, MS, and is the fifth of nine children.  He has 3 brothers and 5 sisters .  He moved to Plano, TX, in 2003 and finished out high school at Plano Senior High.  He spent a year at Collin College, uncertain about his career path.  He shadowed many different medical professionals to see if he found something that interested him.  When he was observing in a dental office, he became interested in dental hygiene.  In 2007, he moved to Milwaukee and completed his associate’s degree at Milwaukee Area Technical College.  After returning to Mississippi and taking some courses towards his bachelor’s degree, Ken decided to apply to dental hygiene school.  He applied to schools all over the country and was accepted to MATC, which sent him back to Milwaukee.  He completed his degree in dental hygiene in the fall of 2011.

What made Ken want to become a dental hygienist? He remembers many bad experiences as a child in the dental chair.  He says he was told he had gingivitis but was never instructed on improving his oral health.  When he finally did have a good experience with a dentist and hygienist who spent time educating him on how he could take better care of his teeth and gums, that’s when he knew he wanted to do the same for others.  His favorite part of being a dental hygienist is meeting new people every day and helping them improve their overall health through better oral hygiene.

In his free time, Kenneth spends a lot of time at the gym and CrossFit, or if the weather is nice, at the pool. He and his girlfriend Noelle enjoy trying new restaurants and traveling.  He also spends a lot of time being a great uncle to his local niece and nephew, Kayla and Dylan.
